Connect SumUp Solo to NeroPOS
Prepare your Solo reader and enter your own SumUp connection details.
Manual connection · Reader pairing may need assistance
Before you start
This guide is for merchants connecting a SumUp Solo to NeroPOS. Air and Solo Lite are not supported by this particular NeroPOS connection.
Enter your own SumUp connection details in the fields below. Keep your credential valid: temporary access tokens need renewal, and this form does not renew them automatically. Ask support to confirm the appropriate authorisation arrangement for your account.
What you need
- Your own SumUp merchant account and its merchant code.
- A supported Solo reader, online and paired through the supported account connection.
- An authorised credential for your own account.
- Owner access to NeroPOS settings and matching account/payment currency.
Use credentials belonging to the same merchant account and environment as your paired Solo. Confirm that the account and reader are authorised for live customer payments.
Connect your account & terminal
Get your account credential
For a supported manual/direct setup, sign in to the intended SumUp account. Open Settings → For Developers → Toolkit → API Keys, select Create and save the secret value securely. Do not use the Public Key. If your account does not show this option, contact SumUp or your authorised installer.
Pair your Solo
Your Solo must be paired before you enter its reader ID into NeroPOS. Ask your authorised installer or support to complete the supported pairing process before entering a reader ID.
On an eligible Solo, this process uses the device’s Connections → API → Connect pairing code after logging out of its ordinary merchant session. Your installer must finish the account pairing promptly. The pairing code and device serial number are not the saved reader ID.
Complete the NeroPOS fields
| Field | What you enter |
|---|---|
| Merchant API key / access token | Your account’s credential agreed for the supported setup. Do not paste an expiring token and expect automatic renewal. |
| Merchant code | Your owning SumUp account’s merchant code, not your email address. |
| Paired Solo reader ID | The saved ID provided after successful account pairing. |
| Environment | Use the environment authorised for your account. Customer payments require an activated Live connection. |
Automatic payment updates
You do not need to register a global webhook or paste a callback URL for SumUp. NeroPOS includes the required protected payment-notification address when it sends a payment.
Wait for the confirmed result in the payment window. If the response is delayed, use Check status. Do not retry a charge just because the initial request or the browser timed out.
Enable in NeroPOS
- Open NeroPOS → Settings → Payments.
- Find your provider under Third-party payment integration. Complete its connection details, turn the connection switch on and select Verify & save connection.
- After verification, enable the provider under Enabled payment methods.
- If you want to use it for most card payments, choose it under Default payment method.
- Save the main POS settings. Saving the connection alone does not save your enabled-method/default choices.
Only the account owner or authorised support staff can change connection credentials. If you are a cashier or another staff member, ask your account owner to complete setup.
Take a payment
- Open the bill in NeroPOS and select Pay.
- Select the connected provider and choose Send to terminal.
- Check the amount on the terminal and ask the customer to complete payment.
- Wait for NeroPOS to confirm the final result before completing the bill.
The terminal receives the bill’s remaining amount. Keep your POS account and provider account/terminal currency consistent. This connection does not convert GBP to EUR or EUR to GBP.
The connection supports one saved terminal per provider for your merchant account. It collects the full remaining balance, rather than a custom split-payment amount. An internet connection is required.
Troubleshooting
| What you see | What to do |
|---|---|
| SumUp fields are disabled | Check owner access and ask NeroPay support about connection availability. You do not need to edit server configuration. |
| Reader not found / not paired | Confirm the saved reader ID belongs to your merchant account. Ask your installer to verify pairing. |
| Invalid or expired credential | Check the account credential with your account administrator/support. Temporary access tokens are not renewed automatically by this form. |
| Payment still pending | Keep the bill open, use Check status and check your SumUp transaction history before taking any further payment. |
Payments & refunds
The provider settles these payments under your agreement with them. They do not increase your NeroPay wallet balance.
For a refund, use the provider’s supported refund process. A provider refund is not automatically reflected in the NeroPOS bill/report by this connection. Contact support if the related POS record needs to be reconciled.
Accept customer payments only through an activated live connection. Account verification and saving credentials alone do not confirm live availability.
Get help
Contact NeroPay support through your usual dashboard/support channel. Include your merchant account ID, the provider name, the approximate payment time, amount/currency and the non-sensitive error shown on screen. If a payment attempt ID is displayed, include it.
Never include passwords, secret API keys, access tokens, webhook signing keys or full card details in screenshots, email or WhatsApp. Enter secret connection values only into the relevant secure settings fields. Do not delete payment records or force a bill to paid to resolve an uncertain transaction.
