Turn approved bookkeeping into a dated Corporation Tax estimate you can keep and hand to your accountant.

Beside it sit a task list for year-end work and a timeline of the dates you have confirmed.

⚠️ Warning: This is an estimate and a working paper, not a tax return, and not tax advice. NeroBooks does not produce or submit a CT600, statutory accounts or anything to Companies House. Have your accountant check the figures before you rely on them.

Who it is for

Requirement Detail
Company type UK-resident trading limited company, no ring-fence activities
Accounting periods 01-04-2023 to 31-03-2027
Period length twelve months or less
Currency GBP only

A short period crossing financial years of different lengths needs its own computation and cannot be estimated here.

Before you can save one

Set your accounting period and select Review period. Three tiles tell you whether your records are ready.

Tile What it tells you
Bookkeeping profit / (loss) profit from approved GBP entries in the period
Entries needing attention drafts must be reviewed first
Posted non-GBP entries must be resolved — the calculation is GBP only

💡 Note: If either of the last two shows a count, deal with it first. The estimate will not save while unreviewed drafts or non-GBP entries sit in the period.

The adjustments

+ Create tax estimate opens a form. Every figure is one you have reviewed — NeroBooks does not decide the tax treatment of anything.

Field What to enter
Associated companies how many other companies are associated, not counting this one
Disallowable expenses to add back costs tax rules do not allow
Depreciation / amortisation to add back depreciation is not a tax deduction
Other reviewed tax additions anything else that increases the taxable figure
Non-taxable income in the accounts income that is not taxable
Reviewed capital allowances relief claimed on equipment and capital spending
Other reviewed tax deductions anything else that reduces it
Eligible losses used losses set against this period
Exempt distributions in augmented profits marginal relief only
Adjustment notes and evidence why each figure is what it is — your accountant will read this

Two ticks confirm the company qualifies and your bookkeeping is complete and reviewed. Save estimate keeps it.

⚠️ Warning: Do not add the same cost back twice. Depreciation is suggested from your depreciation account, so check it is not already counted elsewhere.

Saved estimates

Each is a dated snapshot. It does not update when the bookkeeping changes, so make a new one after you change entries or adjustments. Estimates export as PDF, CSV or Excel.

Year-end tasks

Preparation & review is an internal task list. Add a company secretarial task or a bookkeeping review, give it a due date, and track it.

Filter by work type — Corporation Tax preparation, company secretarial task or bookkeeping review — and by status. The four statuses are Draft, In review, Reviewed · not filed and Closed internally.

💡 Note: Finishing a task here submits nothing, updates no register and certifies nothing. It is your own record of what has been done.

Tax timeline

Tax timeline holds dates you have confirmed yourself. NeroBooks does not work out your deadlines — take each one from your HMRC or Companies House account.

Field What to enter
Name / description what the date is for — required
Due Date the date from the official notice — required
Completed tick once you have checked it with the authority
Notes reference numbers or anything you will want later

The account owner can switch on email reminders in Settings. They go out up to seven days before a saved date and shortly after.

Frequently asked questions

Is the estimate my tax bill?

No. It comes from figures you entered and adjustments you chose. Your accountant works out and files the real liability.

Why will it not save?

Check the readiness tiles. Unreviewed drafts or posted non-GBP entries both block it.

Do saved estimates update?

No. Each is a snapshot. Make a fresh one after changing the bookkeeping or adjustments.

Where do deadlines come from?

Your HMRC and Companies House accounts, or your accountant. NeroBooks stores what you enter and works nothing out.

Can it file the return?

No. CT600 and iXBRL submission, statutory accounts and Companies House filing are all outside NeroBooks.
