NeroBooks is where you keep your books, built into your NeroPay dashboard. Record what you earn and spend, keep your people and bank details in one place, and download reports.
Nothing counts until you approve it. That one rule explains most of what you will see on screen. New here? Start with Get set up.
What it does
| Area | What it is for |
|---|---|
| Bookkeeping | record income, bills and adjustments, then approve them |
| Payment inbox | turn NeroPay card and cash payments into income |
| Bank feeds | pull in bank movements to match against your books |
| Receipts & Bills | upload receipts and turn them into expenses |
| Reports | profit and loss, balance sheet, cash and more |
| People and payroll | staff records, hours, leave and UK PAYE pay |
| Registers | customers and suppliers, account names, equipment |
| Corporation Tax | a dated estimate to share with your accountant |
| Settings | business details, which areas show, and who can see them |
How a figure reaches your accounts
Every route in works the same way.
💡 Note: This rule is behind nearly every message in NeroBooks. Drafts and approvals covers it properly.
What it is not
| It is not | What that means |
|---|---|
| A link to other accounting software | NeroBooks is the ledger itself, not a bridge to Xero, QuickBooks, Sage or FreeAgent |
| Automatic | nothing is recorded for you |
| A bank | bank connections are read-only and cannot move money |
| A tax return | reports and estimates are working documents, not filings |
| Certified accounts | reports are management figures, not signed by an accountant |
Filing sits outside the areas this guide covers. Check the services table in Settings for what your own account can do, and keep your existing filing arrangements in place until you have confirmed otherwise.
Who it is for
Small UK businesses. You can set up as a limited company, sole trader, partnership, limited liability partnership, landlord or charity.
- The account owner sets things up, and is the only one who can connect a bank, lock a period or grant access
- Your staff can be given bookkeeping, reports, payroll or document access separately
- An outside bookkeeper can ask for limited access that you approve and can end
See Settings and access.

Frequently asked questions
Does this replace my accountant?
No. It keeps your records tidy and produces reports. Your accountant still reviews the figures, and only they can certify accounts or handle filings.
Can I use it alongside Xero or QuickBooks?
There is no connection between them. NeroBooks is a ledger in its own right, so you would be keeping two sets of records in step by hand.
Will my sales appear on their own?
NeroPay payments show up in the payment inbox for you to check. Nothing reaches your accounts until you create a draft and approve it.
What happens if I cancel?
Cancelling stops renewal rather than deleting your records, and authorised CSV exports stay available after access ends. Export what you need before access ends and keep your own copies — your legal duty to retain records does not end with the subscription.
Does it handle more than one currency?
You can record entries in twelve currencies. Amounts are never converted or added together, so you run reports one currency at a time.
This article explains how NeroBooks works. It is general information about the software, not accounting, tax or financial advice. Nero Panda Ltd, trading as NeroPay, is not a tax agent, accountancy firm or financial adviser.
